Second Annual Peacemakers Award Dinner Update!
2010 Peacemakers Award Recipients: Professor Richard Falk, Cindy and Craig Corrie, Representative Brian Baird
Our Peacemakers Dinner on Saturday night, April 24th was a great success!
The Simaan family’s home, the delicious Middle Eastern food, and the space heaters were a warm welcome to the whole crowd. We were honored to bring Cindy and Craig Corrie together with U.N. Special Rapport eur Richard Falk to receive our Peacemakers Awards and to view Congressman Brian Baird’s video acceptance speech. Together, we met our fundraising goal.
The day after our Peacemakers Awards Dinner, we presented two years of quiet human rights legal work on behalf of Abir Aramin and her family to Professor Falk. Professor Falk was encouraged by the depth of our Leahy Law work and will cite it in his next report to the U.N. He and the Rebuilding Alliance Board then asked our talented team of interns to publish our research and expand our Leahy Law investigations to include other children’s cases with each new playground we build.
