| On the 17th of June, Israel announced that it would allow far more civilian goods into Gaza, and would allow construction materials in under international supervision for civilian projects.
You can help hold Israel accountable to this statement, and to push toward a fully open Gaza, by engaging Congress. Find Congressional addresses and phone numbers at http://www.govtrack.us/ Use this template to write to them: *********************************** Please call the Israeli Embassy and the U.S. State Departemtn on my behalf to say that you care about peace and you care about the children of Gaza. The blockade of Gaza is now in its third year, and continues to severely impact families, especially children and the elderly. The Israeli government has been preventing delivery of the building materials needed to rebuild homes and schools. In June, Israel announced that it would allow civilian construction materials to enter Gaza under international supervision. Please ask that they assure the delivery to Gaza of all the cement and rebar needed to build a kindergarten in Rafah’s Yebna refugee camp. Please urge them to allow vital rebuilding materials to reach the wider non-governmental community and to move towards a full lifting of the blockade. Please notify me when you make your calls. |
