Build a House for Nedal E. Family in Gaza
Sponsored by: The Madison-Rafah Sister City Project
The shabby condition of the house is taking a toll on the mental and physical health of the members of the Nedal E. family. After inspecting the house and discussing the needs of the family, Engineer Heba has proposed renovations that can be undertaken with your help.
Help Nedal family finish their home and build needed structure.

Problem: The Nedal Family is a Palestinian family of five (father, mother, 2 sons, and 1 daughter) living in the remote southern area of the Gaza Strip in the Tal El Sultan neighborhood of Rafah. After living a relatively comfortable and decent life, things changed drastically when the father was diagnosed with cancer forcing the mother to take up a job.
This family lives on the upper floor of the house. Due to a massive opening in the roof area, their 2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen, and bathroom are nearly unusable. The structural status of the roof is very bad. In addition, there are holes in the roof panels of the bedrooms causing rainwater leakage into the house. As a result, the entire family spends most of their time in one room. Cracks in the concrete ceiling of the bathroom and kitchen is a potential hazard as the concrete ceiling can cave in at any moment. Due to a lack of funds, the family is unable to do house repairs. All these issues are taking a toll on the family’s health and well-being, with the father and young children having little immunity against colds and asthma.
Solution: Eng. Heba, RA's site engineer has carried out a detailed study on house renovations and made recommendations, including adding a new room in an opening.
