    They are much stronger, safer, and more durable than tents, but they are not intended to replace permanent housing. Their purpose is to provide families with stability and dignity during this prolonged humanitarian crisis.

How much does one shelter cost?

Each Gaza Darna Transitional Shelter costs approximately $15,000 to construct. This includes materials, labor, site preparation, and essential infrastructure needed to make the shelter safe and functional.

Where are the first shelters?

The first five Gaza Darna Transitional Shelters were built in Nuseirat, Gaza.

How did you choose this family?

To get started, we had to find privately owned land, families in need, a relatively well-enclosed area, and a family that would work with us in a pilot project that leads to a loan program.


This family in Nuseirat was facing constant flooding, as their tents were on land below the road. 


Will there be more Gaza Darna shelters?

Yes—that is our goal.

Our immediate objective is to build 30 additional Gaza Darna Transitional Shelters as funding becomes available.
