Children are dying slowly from hunger

By Kareem Nasrallah

In a scene that has repeated itself countless times, a new wave of displacement has begun in southern and northern Gaza, particularly toward Al-Mawasi in Khan Younis, as military operations intensify. People are fleeing death. There is no safe shelter—not even a tent to protect the children, women, and elderly. For many families who have lost everything, the dream of affording a new tent is out of reach. They are left to sleep in the open air, exposed to the cold of night. The streets of Khan Younis are now overflowing with displaced individuals, exhausted and disoriented by constant movement. They’ve grown weary of fleeing from one danger to another, with no hope for stability.

Transportation costs have become another heavy burden, especially for families trying to move their belongings or even for community kitchens that provide hot meals to displaced families. Today, these kitchens are struggling to find the basic food supplies needed to prepare the meals. Vegetables have nearly disappeared, and protein sources—such as milk, eggs, and meat—are completely out of reach. The most heart-breaking thing is the condition of the children. They are dying slowly from hunger. Prices have skyrocketed so parents can no longer afford a simple meal to feed their children.

Your support allows us to continue our hot meals program in Gaza. Through nine kitchens, our CBO partners are serving 27,000 hot meals a day. Help feed Gaza families Give Now bit.ly/Donate-RA
