Food as Medicine for Palestine's PKU Kids

Nearly 600 children in Gaza & the West Bank suffer from Phenylketonuria (PKU), a genetic disorder. Kids with PKU are unable to metabolize protein. These children need monthly supplies of lifesaving prescription produce to avoid PKU-related complications. Ask your friends to chip in to meet the $250 cost of monthly supplies per child.

"This is my daughter, Islam. She's five years old. Islam has PKU. A few years ago, I lost my son to PKU because of the lack of specialized diet. My family lacks the financial ability to purchase her special diet or medical formula.”

Ghoson, the mother of Islam.

PKU Mommy’s Kitchen

Background

When the Palestinian Ministry of Health stopped sending the medical food to the children in Gaza, one family reached out to Rebuilding Alliance to ask our help. Little did we know the scale of the need. Now, an international team of volunteers has joined Rebuilding Alliance to secure shipment of the vital Phenyl-free medical food for PKU children in Gaza and the West Bank. With your help, we’re delivering. We know how to do this — we delivered 35,000 solar lights through the blockade, so now, please donate to give these children their health, their human right.
