"One parcel can support a family of five for two weeks during Ramadan"

Rebuilding Alliance hosted a new episode of the webinar series, Behind the Scenes, on February 12th, focusing on “How to Provide Nourishing Parcels to Gaza Families in Time for Ramadan.” Speaking from Gaza, Rafeek, Rebuilding Alliance’s Gaza Program Manager, described what Ramadan looks like this year following two devastating Ramadans during the war. While the ceasefire brings cautious hope and food has returned to markets, most families still have no income. Many are unemployed, buying on credit is difficult, and prices remain high for vulnerable households. Food may be available in markets, but it remains out of reach for many families.

That is why Rebuilding Alliance has designed this year’s Ramadan parcels are designed differently. The team in Gaza is working with CBO partners to assess needs and carefully design each parcel to include dry staples, fresh vegetables and fruits, and protein (including frozen chicken when feasible). Each parcel is planned to provide enough food for Suhoor and Iftar for a family of five for two weeks.

Mr. Rafeek emphasized that distribution must happen before Ramadan begins so that families have food security at the start of the holy month. Help feed Gaza families this Ramadan, Give Now – LaunchGood.com/RamadanwithGaza
