Layla

Advocacy Coordinator

I have a Masters degree in Human Rights Public Policy from University College London (UCL). I previously worked on the ground in Haifa for a year at Mossawa Center, an NGO focused on Palestinian Citizens of Israel rights. I also worked with Zaha Hassan at Carnegie Endowment, where I helped put together the book "Suppressing Dissent: Shrinking Civic Space, Transnational Repression and Palestine-Israel" and co-wrote a chapter on Palestinian NGOs.

I work on advocacy for Palestinian rights with the US government in Congress and the State Department. This includes writing action networks and other materials for public and congressional consumption. As the DC representative for RA, I attend high-level meetings. I also coordinate medical evacuation cases, working with families to find pathways to help their loved ones.

This work is important because US policy directly affects the lives of Palestinians. If we can educate them and influence them to make better decisions, it can improve the lives of Palestinians and work towards peace in the region, where everyone can live freely and equally without being subjugated to oppression and occupation.
